Read Across America Week, March 3-7

Thursday, March 06 2008 @ 04:51 PM EST

Minnesota

Minnesota BookPALS celebrated Read Across America with their classes throughout the Twin Cities. In addition to reading Dr. Seuss favorites such as The Cat in the Hat, there were some special events this week: Tom Sherohman took two classes from Oh Day Aki to see a production of The House at Pooh Cornerat Stages Theatre Co. in Hopkins. This stage adaptation of the classic book by A.A. Milne was a wonderful combination of theatre and literature for the children.

BookPALS volunteer Mary Kay Bodeen read to 2nd-grade classes at Braham Elementary and also paid a visit to her daughter's 2nd-grade class, taught by Mrs. Klinkner at South Elementary in Princeton.

Minnesota Coordinator Delta Giordano read to four different classes during the week, including Mrs. Schulz's 1st-graders at Falcon Heights Elementary.
