What is the NY BookPALS Group Read program?
Our Group Read program is special as it happens only once a month at two schools in New York City. These are PS 52 in Brooklyn and PS 230 in the Bronx.Four volunteer BookPAL readers go to these schools once a month to read to 4-5 classes each!
Terri Kelsey, a regular reader at PS 52, is pictured with her certificate of appreciation for all of the great work she has done over the years!

Patty McDonald (MN StoryLine Coordinator) and Delta Giordano (MN BookPALS Coordinator) shared some of their favorite children's books at the spring workshop & appreciation on May 12th. New and veteran BookPALS enjoyed a lively discussion, a raffle and refreshments at Dreamland Arts in St. Paul.

Minnesota BookPALS was pleased to participate in the 13th Annual Reading Rainbow Young Writers & Illustrators Awards Celebration. The event was hosted by Twin Cities Public Television (TPT) at their studios in St. Paul on May 8, 2007. The winning stories were read by Bookpal extraordinaire Adena Brumer (pictured below reading "Little Sneetchel Saves the Village" by Sophie Houghton, Kindergarten). 
The awards were presented by Patty McDonald, MN StoryLine Coordinator, and Marnie Johnson, Co-Manager of The Red Balloon Bookshop. The special guest was children's author & illustrator David LaRochelle, who shared stories from his own creative childhood. After the awards presentation, Mr. LaRochelle took time to sign books for his young fans.
