The Thanksgiving Door
Written by Debby Atwell, illustrated by
Recommended Ages: 6 7 8
It's Thanksgiving Day and Ann burned the dinner. Therefore, Ann and her husband, Ed, decide to checkout "The New World Cafe." Luckily, the door was open...However, the owners(who were back in the kitchen), are not expecting customers on this day. So the kids devise a way to get rid of Ed and Ann, but Grandma got mad: "Enough! In old country we bang pots at wolves, not at hungry people..." Ed and Ann are welcomed and everyone enjoys a wonderful dinner. Afterward, it was time to dance. Although Ann had never danced on Thanksgiving before, she led the conga line...Later everyone says goodbye graciously. At home, Ann asks Ed what he is thankful for? He says, "I guess I'd have to say, my dear, that I'm most thankful that you burned our dinner." She agreed.
