Hannah's Bookmobile Christmas
Written by Sally Derby, illustrated by Gail Swiatkowska
Recommended Ages: 6 7 8
Join Blue Bird, Mary, Hannah, and Dickens at the beginning of their Christmas Eve route (i.e., The Bookmobile, Driver/Librarian, Mary's niece, Mary's cat). Their first stop is the Post Office: while there they usually see Mr. Eichberg (a writer). Today he almost misses them... (Occasionally, he reads his books at Hannah's school.) They have many stops scheduled and more people who need help finding books. However, after each stop, Mary frets about the treacherous weather conditions: She does not think she can get Hannah home safely... After the route is finished, she attempts to drive up Devil's Backbone. Well, despite an almost deadly swerve, they make it--but insufficient for Hannah to walk home safely. So Mary, Hannah, and Dickens decide to stay warm inside Blue Bird.
*The book contains a brief history of The Bookmobile.
