SAG Foundation Programs Foster Love for Reading on Valentines Day

Hector Elizondo Reads 'Somebody Loves You, Mr. Hatch' for Storyline Online Scheduled to Launch on February 14

Los Angeles, CA (February 09, 2004) The Screen Actors Guild Foundation program Storyline Online promotes literacy at a national level with most recent reading by celebrity actor Hector Elizondo. In celebration of friendship and Valentines Day, Storyline Online launches the story "Somebody Loves You, Mr. Hatch" on February 14.

SAG Foundation Executive Director Marcia Smith comments, "We are a community building organization that links performing artists to specialized programs and are fortunate to have a caring and giving membership. I would like to thank Hector Elizondo for his enthusiasm in reading for Storyline Online."

The spirit of giving is carried through to the presentation of "Somebody Loves You, Mr. Hatch" written by Eileen Spinelli and read by actor Hector Elizondo for Storyline Online at www.bookpals.net/storyline

The warmhearted tale examines the effect that love and tender regard can have on a lackluster existence.  Mr. Hatch is a drab, predictable gentleman who leads a painfully ordered and uninteresting life.  One Valentine's Day, a giant candy-filled heart is delivered to Mr. Hatch with a note that reads, "Somebody loves you."  Just the thought of someone taking an interest in him completely changes the way Mr. Hatch interacts with his neighbors and co-workers.  The newly adorable gentleman becomes so much a part of people's lives that when it is disclosed that the heart was delivered by mistake, his friends and neighbors rally around him in a loving demonstration.

"Somebody Loves You, Mr. Hatch" is part of the second season which includes readings by Elijah Wood (Lord Of The Rings), Melissa Gilbert (Little House on the Prairie and SAG President), Esai Morales (NYPD Blue and American Family), Bonnie Bartlett & William Daniels (St. Elsewhere and Boy Meets World) and special guest former Vice President Al Gore.

Storyline Online is a national literacy program that builds on the BookPALS program. Sponsored by Verizon, Storyline Online streams video programs on-line featuring celebrities reading children's books aloud and offers books of various themes by award winning authors. Each video is accompanied by a prepared curriculum including theme, lesson suggestions and a bibliography of related books integrating technology with early literacy.
