BookPALS Brighten New York City

Wednesday, December 21 2005 @ 02:00 PM EST

New York

We’re not just reading in schools anymore. BookPALS have been volunteering at NY hospitals for two years—and now actors are also visiting shelters. Some BookPALS just can’t get enough reading!

BookPAL Cynthia Stuart has helped us
get the word out, and local shelters are excited about BookPALS—of course. We’re now looking for BookPALS to read to children in special after-school programs and to pre-schoolers in the daytime. We also have some need on weekends.

We’re helping primarily in the Bronx and Brooklyn right now, but we will be expanding as more BookPALS sign on for these wonderful programs.

If you want to make a real difference in the life of a New York City child, contact the BookPALS office to start reading: 212-827-1446

Hospitals where we're helping out:

Mt. Sinai
NewYork Presbyterian
Montefiore
Maimonides
St. Luke’s
St. Vincent's
Beth Israel (read to adults)
Elizabeth Seton Pediatric Hospital (formerly New York Foundling Hospital)
