Andrea Dixon, Teacher

I would like to thank BookPAL Doug Kaye for a job well done! He was very valuable in the classroom. He engages the students and does an excellent job in increasing student's imagination. Students have a positive attitude towards Mr. Kaye and look forward to him reading each week!

Debbie Hughey, Teacher

BookPAL Doug Kaye provided learning experiences that support student's reading development. BookPALS encourage student's development of critical thinking skills through listening to stories and introduce them to the value of reading. My class enjoyed Mr. Kaye coming to read weekly!

Balisha Johnson, Teacher

BookPAL Doug Kaye made reading very fun, funny, and exciting for my students. They looked forward to seeing him each week! This time allows students to enjoy books that they wouldn't normally be exposed to. Thank you for coming to read to my class!

Leila Roman, Teacher

I really enjoyed BookPAL Doug Kaye reading to my class! The students enjoyed the variety of book classics!

HIGH POINT ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Jackie Brown, Teacher

The children and I look forward with great anticipation to Queen Martha's visits (BookPAL Martha B. Knighton)! Our school is over 60% Hispanic. The perfect diction and enunciation of our Pal Martha are what the students need to hear. The students need to read aloud and it is wonderful to have help with that. Martha brings the children a treat every week. Thanks a million times over!

HIGHTOWER ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Ms. Collins, Teacher

BookPAL Temi Levy was phenomenal and we would like to see more of her! I enjoyed the fact that Ms. Levy made the story come to life. Thank you so much for taking the time to read to my students! They loved you and your energy!

Shari Gotschall, Teacher

We have loved hearing BookPAL Adora Poon read! We all look forward to her visits and we can't wait for her to read the next chapters from our books. The BookPALS Program kept students excited about reading. Adora often read books that followed our classroom themes. Promise to come back next year! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

LUMPKIN COUNTY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Margie McAbee, Teacher

Sandee McGlaun exceeded my expectations in her very professional approach to this program. She has been reliable. Her book choices are always appropriate and her reading holds the interest of the entire class. She discusses the material she reads to enhance its meaning for them. I enjoyed watching the students listen to and respond to Sandee's reading. It gave me insight into what captures their imagination! A BookPAL is another confirmation of the value and joy of reading. Children can use as much of that as we can give them. Wonderful Program! Thanks!

BookPAL Sandee McGlaun was great! I enjoyed hearing the students talk about being excited about their BookPAL coming! From the materials she borrowed from our library, I saw a great selection and variety of books. I think that BookPALS is a very valuable program!

NORCROSS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Deborah Tozzi, Teacher

I was very pleased with the way our BookPAL, Lawrence Johnson, prepared and presented read alouds to our first-grade students! He helped my students make connections between the text and their own experiences. This was essential for the children because they are second-language learners. Mr. Johnson made each read aloud a pleasant social interaction which facilitated their comprehension in a natural, enjoyable manner. The children and I want to express our appreciation for the time he shared reading with us. We look forward to continuing our relationship next year!

NORTON PARK ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Kindergarten Team

The students look forward to their BookPAL, Heather Place, each week. She provides different genres for students and encourages ELL participation and feedback. Kids LOVE Ms. Heather! They write and draw responses to her stories. The students make connections. She came to a Saturday event and read to families and the school. We enjoyed her positive interaction with all of the students. We appreciate the love and caring that Heather has shown to our students. She has passed on the love of literature. Thank you, Heather!

POWERS FERRY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Kathy Culbertson, Media Specialist

BookPAL Cathy Kaemmerlen far exceeded our expectations! After all, Cathy is so very talented. Seeing how she is a paid professional and gave us the same treatment she earns a living for, we feel so very fortunate! I know she positively impacted the lives of our under-privileged students. She captivated the hearts and minds of her young audience and was a terrific role model! Our teachers loved her, too! They found her visits very therapeutic and an uplifting experience for all! She was not only fun, but gave us invaluable educational experiences as she tied in holidays and seasons building bridges with her stories, connecting our students to the world. We can't express how much we appreciate Cathy! Hopefully she knows and feels it in our faces when we see her. I am touched whenever I see those kindergartners in her presence. She brings out the creativity in them as they join her in the world of possibilities and imagination that she creates for them. They anticipate her visits all week! They just adore her!!!

ASA PHILIP RANDOLPH ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Rosalyn Camp, Curriculum Support Teacher

We are very pleased to have BookPAL Jeff Gripper at our school. Thank you for sending him to us! Mr. Gripper has been working with second-grade classes this year. The teachers and students all love him very much. Mr. Gripper reads a variety of literature for the students. He always gets the students involved in the story he reads. Mr. Gripper is the BEST! We love him at Randolph!
