Atlanta BookPAL Heather Place has been reading at Norton Park Elementary School in Smyrna, Georgia since October 2001. As one of our most enthusiastic and dedicated BookPALS, Heather has also participated in many special events and she received the Smyrna Mayor's Education Award in the Volunteer Category this past May.

Heather Place began her theatrical training at the age of nine as a member of Animated Antics, a children's theater touring troupe in Michigan. As a teenager, Heather appeared in summer productions at the Hilton Head Playhouse, then majored in drama in the B.F.A. Program at the University of Georgia. She also attended the Alliance Theatre School here in Atlanta and has studied with world-renowned acting coaches including Milton Katselas in Los Angeles and Arkadiy Khraritonov from the Moscow Art Theatre. Heather has worked as a professional actress for over 20 years in theater, film and television and as a voice-over artist.

Heather's theater credits include: Equus, The Women, Romeo & Juliet, Cabaret, and the national debut of Drowning Lessons. Her film and television works include: No Mercy with Richard Gere and Kim Basinger, Windmills of the Gods with Jaclyn Smith and Robert Wagner, Noble House with Pierce Brosnan, Days of Our Lives, and the feature film We Three Kings, which is touring the country on the film festival circuit.

Heather is also a founder of the Vinings Creative Learning Center and Founder and Director of the Theatre Arts for Tots and Theatre Arts for Kids Programs, which teach various aspects of theater to children ages 3-9. She is currently developing a children's television show based on the curriculum of her Theatre Arts Program.

Additionally, Heather has worked as an acting coach and talent agent in both the Atlanta and Detroit markets and as the National Spokesperson for Audi of America. Heather is a member of the Screen Actors Guild and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists.

Please join me in congratulating Ms. Heather Place as BookPAL of the Month for September 2006!
