Please join me in congratulating Ms. Helen Ingebritsen of Atlanta, Georgia, as BookPAL of the Month for February 2007 for her outstanding service to the Atlanta BookPALS Program since 2001!

Helen has been a BookPAL since the program's inception in 2001. She has read at Ashford Park and High Point Elementary Schools. Reading has always been an important part of her volunteer activities. She began volunteering as a reader back in eighth grade for a service project and has always loved reading to children. She has enjoyed recording books and other media for the blind through Georgia Radio Reading Service in Atlanta and the Braille Institute in Los Angeles. Other volunteer activities include Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Festival of Trees and many projects through her church, including Habitat For Humanity and the Hunger Walk to benefit the Atlanta Community Food Bank (ACFB).

Currently, Helen serves on the Board and Council of AFTRA/SAG Atlanta. She has performed for the past three years in Lend Me An Ear, an evening of Old Time Radio which benefits the ACFB. She is a member of Georgia Production Partnership which actively promotes the film, video music and interactive game industries in the state and is working to bring Georgia to the forefront of U.S. production.

As an actor, Helen has worked in film, television, corporate training videos, commercials for television and radio, and on stage. Some favorite credits include: Walk the Line (film), The Rosa Parks Story (television) and Arcadia and the Miser (stage). She is currently working on an independent film, Party Favors, through the Women's Angle.

Over the years, Helen has participated in many events including Read Across America and Mayor Shirley Franklin's "Booking It With the Mayor." Program. Helen has consistently gone above and beyond the call the duty and we are very proud to have her on the Atlanta BookPALS Team! Thank you for caring so much about literacy and the kids, and for all of your hard work and dedication over the years!
