Four members of The Color Purple cast visited with 17 young women serving their time in the San Francisco Juvenile Justice System on November 26. Bridget Bentley, Jenna Jackson, Michelle Williams and Jeannette Bayardelle spent two hours talking with the girls and visiting their living unit. These four women were not only generous with their time, but extremely open and honest about their lives and what it took for them to follow their passion. The message was clear - if you have a dream, follow it. No one is stopping you, but you.
Special thank you to City Youth Now for hosting the afternoon, and to The Color Purple Production Co. and a grant from the Northern California Children's Book Sellers Association for making sure each girl received a copy of "The Color Purple" by Alice Walker.
