Halibut Jackson is a Hit with Students

Bookpal Tom Sherohman sent us this message when he returned to his kindergarten classes after the winter break: "The kinders at both my schools LOVED Halibut Jackson. When I gave it to them before the holidays, I asked them to have someone read it to them and to be ready to discuss it when they came back. At my first meeting with them last Monday, they were excited to tell me who had read to them: Moms, dads, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles. One girl even said that after hearing the story several times, she 'read' the book to her little sister and helped her find the hidden Halibuts in the early pictures. In both classes we talked about being shy, with the teachers and me telling of times when we, too, are shy. At first the kids loudly denied ever being shy, but in discussion most admitted to sometimes being timid around new people, especially 'big people.' What a great book for this age group! Thanks from me, the kids and the teachers."

Thanks to First Book for the books, and thanks to you, Tom, for sharing your story. This is why we do what we do!
