Congratulations to Ms. Minnie Tee, honored as Atlanta BookPAL of the Month for April 2008!

Minnie Tee, Atlanta BookPAL Since 2005
Minnie Tee is almost an Atlanta native. She has been here since 1982. Since her arrival, Minnie has seen her acting career slowly grow from small roles on stage to a small role in a major film. Her first bite from the acting bug was when she was very young. She finally got her first opportunity to appear on stage in high school in South Bend, Indiana, where she grew up.
Minnie can now add television and film to her stage resume, as well as commercials, voiceover and industrials.
One of Minnie’s favorite acting jobs is with Emory University. She has worked with the Law School as a member of the jury and as a witness. But mostly she works with the Medical School as a Standardized Patient. It’s a great opportunity to work with students who will one day be great doctors.
Minnie’s recent activities include working in the chorus of “Foot Loose,” presented by Jerry’s Habima Theatre. Jerry’s Habima is a group composed of developmentally-challenged adults. There’s no greater experience in the world than working with people who are intelligent, have a great sense of humor, and are totally loving, sweet, kind individuals.
Her upcoming venture is with the newly formed Atlanta Theatre-to-Go, a group that will perform one-act plays in senior centers, retirement communities, and any other type of senior independent living facility.
Minnie is also involved in the screenplay reading, “Apparition,” for the Atlanta Film Festival and is in a mock commercial for the Arts Fund luncheon again this year.
Minnie says, "BookPALS is one of the things I do to give back to the community, but I find that the rewards reaped from this activity are a thousand-fold. There’s nothing in the world like twenty little first-grade faces looking at you and listening to every syllable, then hugging you when you leave."
Minnie currently reads to children at Norcross Elementary School in Norcross, as well as Grayson Elementary School in Grayson, Georgia. Please join me in congratulating Ms. Minnie Tee for her extraordinary enthusiasm and sincere dedication to the kids and the Atlanta BookPALS Program!
