Congratulations to Atlanta BookPAL, Jennie Inglis, honored as BookPAL of the Month for March 2009!

Jennie Inglis, Atlanta BookPAL Since 2005!

Ms. Cheryl Allen, First-Grade Teacher says, "We very much enjoy Jennie coming to our class! The class looks forward to her visit every Friday. She reads excellent books which are always age-appropriate. The kids love it when she uses her funny voices. Jennie really gets into her reading. She is very informative and teaches the children. She has talked about White County in the past and always explains any words that the children might not understand. Jennie is a joy to have in our room!"

Ms. Billie Bright, Second-Grade Teacher says, "We have really enjoyed Ms. Inglis for the past few years. She is here faithfully every week. The children have fallen in love with many of the classics due to Ms. Jennie - Winnie the Poo, Kipling's Just-So Stories, and many others come to life with her dramatic reading and acting. She very obviously loves literature and transfers this enjoyment of literature to the students. Both the students and I want to thank Ms. Inglis for her generous time and for sharing her considerable talents!"

Jennie Inglis has been an Atlanta BookPAL in northeast Georgia since 2005, volunteering at primary schools first in Demorest and now in Cleveland. She currently reads at J.P. Nix Primary School, working joyfully with first and second-graders, reading Pooh books every other year. Georgia and Martha books by James Marshall are a favorite, too!

Raised in Marietta, Jennie has lived in north Georgia since 1998, arriving there via Philadelphia, Illinois, and Atlanta. A performer on many fronts, these days she plays double bass in two string bands and teaches flatfoot and buck dancing. She developed her love for children's literature while training for and acting as a librarian for 14 years. Jennie lives outside of Cleveland with her husband Mark Baker. She holds down two part-time jobs, one at BlackStock Vineyards & Winery, the other at the Soque River Watershed Association, and amazingly still finds the time to volunteer!

Jennie is also a member of the Georgia Heritage Center for the Arts (GHCA). For more information, please visit the website at: www.georgiaartists.orgl

Please join me in a very warm congratulations for Ms. Jennie Inglis for her outstanding service and devotion to children's literacy as an Atlanta BookPAL! We are very proud to have you on our Team!
